Analysis

One interesting factoid is that there were actually more first basemen kept than drafted in our league. I guess it shouldn't be surprising, considering the depth of talent at first base. It's long been known to be a hitter's position; this is just another piece of evidence to support that belief.

The highest ranked undrafted 1Bs were Aubrey Huff (5), Carlos Delgado (10), and Jorge Cantu (12).

Best pick? No question, it's got to be Youkilis by the Akron Pronks. He was taken in the second-to-last round, but ended up posting fantastic run production numbers on his way to being the #6 ranked first baseman. The "worst" picks were a couple of keepers that disappointed, most notably Travis Hafner, whose 100-RBI season seems like decades ago. Alex Gordon was another tough pill to swallow, ranking 30th at season's end, despite being inside the 16 kept first basemen.
